Souvenir's Young America

The first time i heard this band was with my friend Greg and our mutual love for instrumental bands.I was totaly blown away.In my opinion, they are the best instrumental band out there right now, hands down without a doubt , you get the point! They're sound is thick mixture of dark prairie/open range, never see the horizon kind of music. The sounds for an open road adventure in slow motion.Total bliss for the ears i tell ya!.They have since gotten a little heavier (An Ocean without water ,Crucial Blast) but the songs remain ,simply put , beautiful. They have a new record comming out this month on Init...!

Saint Vitus 01/27/10

Here's some pictures i took from the L.A show last january. Oh and how amazed everyone was when the original singer (Scott Reagers) came out for a Burial at Sea!!
Enjoy..

Rhino.

A 3 piece from Bilboa Spain that play slow and heavy with some soulfoul/bluesy vocals that come together just right in a no B.S approach to the genre. They also have a raw punkrock energy to them...very refreshing! Look out for a new record on Doomentia dropping this summer.

Fitz of Depression

Heres a little info on this great northwestern trio still around today. They blew me away the first time I heard a song (my two feet) a couple of years ago.
Although they've played alongside everyone from Nirvana and Bikini Kill to Bad Brains and Rage Against The Machine, the trio from the Northwest make it clear why they were included on such tours. When it comes to powerhouse punk that knocks unprepared listeners on their ass, these Olympia-born rockers are still among the best. Heavy riffs, bellowing vocals, and a jackhammer rhythm section were the only audio ammunition Fitz needed to make a lasting impact. The fact that they're still killing it, when so many of their contemporaries are dead and buried, is a testament to their talent and resilience.

Jumbo's Killcrane

Not much is known about these Kansas City fellows, other than they released 2 full length Carnavale de carne and The slow decay both on Crucial Blast. They also put out a split with the band Rumpelstiltskin Grinder.Neither their label(s) or the band ever released any bio or info about themselves except describing their early sound as a mix of EHg and Nirvana...this is espicialy noticible in the singers voice. Here's a review for there last album out from exclaim magazine:
Like a primordial behemoth rising from the darkest depths, Kansan dirge-dealers Jumbo’s Killcrane have deviated significantly from last year’s prog-sludge Carnaval De Carne record. Instead of pursuing their bio’s Nirvana-meets-Eyehategod touchstone, the trio dove headlong into the tar pits and emerged a different monster altogether: less prog, more sludge, with tunes averaging seven minutes a pop. After a lengthy intro of drone noise somewhere between early Pink Floyd and Stinking Lizaveta, the title track immediately kicks in with the band’s seething neo-dirge à la Grief. Guitarist/vocalist Erik Jarvis’ gargling tones vacillate between Iron Monkey’s Johnny Morrow (RIP) and Corrosion of Conformity’s Pepper Keenan. There’s even a point in "Brown" where the band throws a change-up, switching from their plodding doom over to Coalesce-inspired metalcore ... but only for a minute. "Locust Blanket" resembles the almost-random beats and chords of Harvey Milk, while "Coital Abyss" replaces the usual loping pace with a semi-gallop (in doom terms, at least). Album closer, "Die, Stabbed," finally reprises their former prog stylings, though still allotting ample time for Jarvis’ tangential solos. A converse to their more math-y records, The Slow Decay is more deliberately doomier to sate fans of the heavy.

Black Budget

Hiya! I just found out about these guy's because they now have an ex member of the amazing Jumbo's Killcrane on drums. Plus they are a 2 piece and I love me some 2 pieces!.They are a farely new band and come from Portland by way of Vancouver and Ireland ..if that makes sense!
Black Budget mixes spastic, low and heavy rythm's and with what seems to be a strong anti-establishment ideology that makes for a very interresting listen.Oh and the vocals remind me a bit of the singer from Big Business.. just a little more pissed off. There website says they were in the process of recording but no news on any official release yet.

From Russia...

I could'nt find much information about this band. They are from Russia and go by Lord of Doubts. They got the sound down right imo and sound like a mix between Electric Wizard and a slowed down High on Fire! Totem One

Master Musicians of Bukkake are more than a one off project with members of Earth, Burning Witch and Diminished Men.Basicaly , they kick ass! There is soooo much goin on here you have to listen for yourselves!Hers a little bio from there record label.

Featuring a special guest appearence by Sun City Girls frontman Alan Bishop,
Master Musicians Of Bukkake’s newest record and part of a Northwest trilogy, Marks an evolution from their first record 'Visible Sign Of the Invisible order (Abduction records 2005).Totem one echos with the delusions of a West Coast Death cult. Outer spaced Gamelan, dusty fuzz rock from celestial deserts, meditations of a deranged Krishna gathering, and the Blurry acoustic guitar majesty of The Cascade mountains all reveal themselves here in epic form On Totem One. Every sound and note played put to tape by a group with a singular purging purpose.
